Project Gazpacho

David Hawkins’ Project Gazpacho

Folks have been telling me that I should practice what I preach in regards to buying seasonal ingredients at the market and getting them to the table in 24 hours.

So Project Gazapacho was conceived by my shopping at the market on August 21 for ingredients listed in the Week 34 recipe for Chefs with L’Attitude on my website at FarmersmarkIT.com.

As with most of my life, my plans had to be adjusted; my son Matthew’s Volvo broke down in Vancouver  and so  I rushed into town leaving the ingredients in a sunbaked car.

I returned to White Rock via Matthew’s home where his partner Jacki – a former Mary Hartwell scholar at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition – and I prepared the gazpacho leaving half for their family and half for me to eat later.

I ate the gazpacho with some toasted garlic bread on Wednesday and Thursday in the back garden and I must say, in spite of the change in plan, it was delicious so thanks to the WRFMS vendors who supplied the raw materials – sorry that’s engineer speak – and I look forward to making the  recipe for Week 35.

You can find the recipe here Week 34 Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho @ 51N and please remember that almost all the ingredients will be available at the next market on Sunday August 28.

Probably see you then!
