Congratulations to the recipients of the 2016 Mary Hartwell Scholarship! Once more The White Rock Farmers’ Market is devoting its amazing support to the upcoming leaders of our regional food system. BC Farmers’ Markets are at the heart of our local food system and our outstanding candidates have demonstrated a clear understand of the importance of being “advocates” to our markets in the context of a growing local food system. With our market’s support, we help build and strengthen the network of our local food hubs, providing not only a physical space where our local producers can sell their products but also a place where our vendors come in direct contact with our community. The Mary Hartwell Scholarship takes it a step forward by creating a support system that takes the vision of our market into the fields/realms of policy, health, and education.
